Hi, I’m Samantha (Sammy) Bermúdez (*1998), I’m half German and Half Venezuelan and I work as a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Hamburg. I studied Media Design at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg in Ravensburg and I’m currently studying Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography at the Hochschule Hannover.
My first photobook, LUCKY SHOT, documents the German underground music scene from 2021 to 2024. My work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad. Alongside my journalistic practice, I have worked on commercial projects for brands including WhatsApp, PUMA, and Telekom. Whilst working on my long-term project Of flowers and weeds on political and economical subcultures in Hamburg, I am also focusing my work on the topic of militarization in Germany and the EU.
My work has been published in: ZEIT Online. DER SPIEGEL, Der Freitag, STERN and more.
