Samantha (Sammy) Bermúdez (*1998) works as a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Hamburg. She studied Media Design at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg in Ravensburg and is currently studying Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography at the Hochschule Hannover. Her work focuses on social issues, portrait photography, and youth subcultures.
Her first photobook, LUCKY SHOT, documents the German underground music scene from 2021 to 2024. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad. Alongside her journalistic practice, she has worked on commercial projects for brands including WhatsApp, PUMA, and Telekom. After completing her long-term project Of flowers and weeds on political subcultures surrounding Hamburg’s autonomous cultural center Rote Flora, she is currently working on a project portraying the Venezuelan diaspora in Germany.
